Almost anything can happen over a Cup of Coffee!

Ever daydreamed and then see it turn into reality?

I have a habit of skipping my lunch every now and then but that skip would ever lead me to this, this I had never thought.

One monotonous afternoon, after attending all of my morning lectures I decided to skip my mess’s mess and thought of spending some time alone in the canteen having some coffee. It had been one heck of a slothful morning as the calendar read the day as Monday. I had not slept last night as Dr. House kept me awake with his quirky and witty remarks on the bright screen in a dark room.

I had no one for a company as everyone was busy feeding themselves with the food at the mess. I ordered a cup of coffee and occupied one of the two empty seats I could find in the whole canteen.

I sat down along with the notebook I had and started observing people around me, mostly couples!

Some of them were busy holding each other’s hands and pouring out their lovey-dovey one-liners they had heard in some romantic Bollywood movies. Some were attempting to cheat the CCTV cameras put up by the authority to restrict couples to intrude into each other’s territory.

And here I was, sitting alone with a cup of coffee and an empty seat. That’s when I slipped into the little hazy picture and the empty seat wasn’t empty anymore. It was now occupied by a brown-haired girl with a fair complexion. She was wearing a red frock and she appeared just like a red cherry on the cake. She had ordered a cup of coffee and a packet of Lays. With every sip she took, the mark of her red lipstick on the cup would darken and the remains of chips would occupy her lower lip.

‘Hi.’ she said. Everything had stopped for a moment and silence had taken over the noisy space.

‘Hhey.’ I managed to speak. And this is how it began.

It wasn’t long enough when I heard the scraping of the chair kept in front of me and that’s when I realized I had been daydreaming. Things went more awkward when I found out that for as long as 10–15 minutes, I had been looking at the breasts of a girl sitting on the chair next to mine.

I had no idea what to do. So without uttering a word, I just tried to concentrate on my coffee.

It was ironic how coffee made me sleep with my eyes open when it is actually used to keep us all awake.

But hey, WAIT! Who made that scraping noise? It was the same girl I was daydreaming of, my crush.
